Drivers of used cars may be eager to check out the new Mazda3, which was unveiled at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy this week.
The manufacturer said the vehicle builds on the success of the original model, while improving on its green credentials.
According to the carmaker, the updated version is approximately ten per cent more efficient than its predecessor.
Commenting on the changes to the vehicle, Mazda's programme manager Yoshiyuki Maeda said: "We targeted dynamic driving performance that responds to the driver's intention and excellent environmental and safety features that offer pride and confidence whenever the driver is behind the wheel."
As far as the car's appearance goes, the manufacturer said it has kept the dynamic lines of the original model, but now has a more expressive look.
The interior was described as being sporty, yet refined.
Meanwhile, an extended line-up of the Mazda6 model is due to appear in showrooms next month.
