Used Vauxhall drivers could be among the motorists putting themselves at risk by not wearing their glasses behind the wheel.
Research by Specsavers has found one in ten motorists have been involved in an accident or a near miss as a result of poor eyesight.
The study also revealed over a quarter of drivers had not been to see an optician since passing their test.
Of those motorists, half admitted they thought they should be wearing glasses when behind the wheel.
Commenting on the results of the research, road safety charity Brake said vehicle owners should visit the opticians on a regular basis to ensure they are not putting themselves or other people at risk.
Spokesperson Helen Haughton stated: "Being perceptive and alert as a driver, especially on congested roads, is crucial."
This comes after it was revealed a motorist's eyecare prescription is expected to included on new EU driving licences from 2011.
Earlier this year, Specsavers reported one in four drivers of new and used cars in Surrey cannot see well enough to be on the road.
